Van Dillen honored by physical therapy association

Has been key in advancing clinical practice and research regarding low back pain

August 2, 2016

Linda Van Dillen, PhD, a professor of physical therapy and of orthopedic surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been named a Catherine Worthingham Fellow by the American Physical Therapy Association.

The designation is given to individuals whose contributions to the profession through leadership, influence and achievements demonstrate sustained efforts to advance the physical therapy profession.

An expert in low back pain, Van Dillen is among a group of rehabilitation scientists at the forefront of shifting the profession’s thinking away from focusing mainly on pathoanatomy and toward classification based on patterns of signs and symptoms. This paradigm shift has been essential in advancing clinical practice and research related to low back pain.
