In April 2014 Michael Awad, MD, PhD, received the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) Young Researcher Award.
Awad was recognized for his research on task performance and ergonomic analysis of laparoscopic robotic surgery, and novel curriculum development in surgical education.
An assistant professor of surgery and director of the university’s Institute for Surgical Education, Awad is also the School of Medicine’s associate dean for medical student education.
