Contractors will break ground March 2 on a new main hospital building to replace the current Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital building at 12634 Olive Blvd. in Creve Coeur, Mo. The new hospital building will be located south of the existing hospital.

Plans also include construction of an adjoining medical office building at the site. Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital Medical Office Buildings 1, 2 and 3 will not be affected.

The existing hospital building will be demolished after the new main building opens in the first quarter of 2019.

The new building will include 64 private patient rooms, four intensive-care unit rooms and 14 operating rooms, with room to grow to 100 inpatient rooms and 16 operating rooms.

“We’re very excited to share the vision of our beautiful new facilities,” said Trish Lollo, president of Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. “The design team has worked closely with our leadership and team members to create a modern patient-care environment that further enables clinicians to provide the very best care and support the needs of our patients.”

Medical specialties at the hospital will continue to include gastroenterology, joint reconstruction/replacement, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, and plastic, spine, thoracic, urological and vascular surgery.

“The patients at our BJC hospitals have come to expect exceptional care in a comfortable, safe and healing environment,” Lollo said. “The new facilities are designed to incorporate advanced approaches to patient care, which will further support our skilled clinicians.

  • 14 operating rooms

Further, a 100,000-square-foot adjoining medical office building will include four floors of physician offices and parking spaces underneath the building.
